"My favourite light? It’s that blue hour when the sunset enters the rooms. We don’t have curtains, we like the leaves, the shadows and the colours to come inside." Home, nature, a slow pace.

Gabriele in Caldonazzo

For me, the point where the house is most a home is the long table in front of the window.

We built it with wooden boards salvaged from an old dock on the adjacent Caldonazzo Lake. Now it is the table where we eat, or drink coffee; where my wife writes the stories I am illustrating with watercolours, our new project which I hope will soon become a book. We’ve been married for 25 years. We were very young: I was 22, she was 21. Giada was born right away, then came Camilla. Our shared perspective on the world starts here, from this window, which we wanted to be as large as possible: the garden that is a house outside the house, the maple tree where in the summer I read in the shade. My favourite light? It’s that blue hour when the sunset enters the rooms. We don’t have curtains, we like the leaves, the shadows and the colours to come inside. Home, nature, a slow pace: I have my own advertising agency, in Trento, but on Friday we don’t work – we live.
