As far away from everything as possible, from traffic, skyscrapers, chaos, people. "Here I can be hidden. The thing I like the best is the sky, the open sky, pure, set aflame at sundown".

Daniel in Guérande

For 20 years my house was a sailboat, in the Antilles.

I was a skipper: Saint Barts, Guadeloupe, Réunion, crystalline sea, islands, everything you might imagine. Wind, sunshine, always. But in the meantime I had purchased land right here, in the “marais”, amidst the salt marshes of Guérande; because I knew I wanted to come here to live, to build my home. As far away from everything as possible, from traffic, skyscrapers, chaos, people. Here I can be hidden. The thing I like the best is the sky, the open sky, pure, set aflame at sundown. The sky I see when I go to feet my carp. In the tropics the days are too short, night falls right away. Here I have time to enjoy the sky. Do I miss the sea, the wind? A little, but not too much. When I miss them, I rent a boat with some friends, we sail in the Mediterranean. But for now the sky is enough for me.
